Maverick Equipment Manufacturing Inc. makes giant hydraulic hammers that heavy-machine operators plunge into the ground, sending ripples through the freshly broken earth.

And the company might make a small dent in the Summerville economy as well.

The manufacturing and sales company, founded 12 years ago in Rhode Island, is now settling into a renovated 30,000-square-foot building at 2745 W. 5th North St.

Best Time to Buy!

Posted By: Annalisa Jordan In:   Financial Blogs

Right now is one of the best times in our history to buy a home.  Interest rates are at their lowest and so are home prices.  The way to make money in real estate is to buy low and sell high, yet what created the current economic problems is just the opposite-people bought at the top of the market and now are trying to sell at the bottom. We need to reverse this buy buying now and allowing normal appreciation to acrue without expecting to get rich so fast on one transaction!

GET READY TO GO GREEN!!!

Earth Day is a 40 year old holiday...a tradition, if you will. The idea came from U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson.  April 22 has become the day each year when people from all over the country and across the globe celebrate our Earth & environment, and try to come up with solutions on how to make it better.  We take a good look at how we affect the beautiful World we were put in, both positively & negatively.

As people living on this earth, as workers, brothers, sisters, & homeowners, we are becoming more and more aware of how much energy we consume. On the 'homeowner' aspect, we see that from the moment our homes are constructed, we are consuming resources and ex...

Charleston NOT on list of "Top Declining Markets"..Who is???

Posted By: Mallory Desimone In:   General real estate

We all know that the Real Estate market has been " not so great" for quite sometime now.  But, there are some metropolitan areas that are having it much worse than others. And even though home prices are weakest in the fall, they usually peak in the spring and remain that way throughout the summer...Altos' numbers reflect an unsteady market in general. I was reading an article from Forbes.com that discusses the trends and the volatility of certain cities throughout the U.S. And thankfully, we don't have to worry about Charleston being on that list of cities where home prices are plummeting.
